Today, Dr. Franz Werner Michel and his wife are leading the 12 ha / 30 acres estate. The proprietor and his family personally welcome visitors - by appointment only, please - for wine tastings (also in English or Swedish) in the estate's historical cellars or in the stylish manor-house. |

The vineyards are planted to Riesling (98%) and Spätburgunder
or Pinot Noir (2%) and all are located on gentle slopes facing
south with chalky soils rich in minerals.
The single vineyard
names appearing on the bottlings are "Domdechaney", "Kirchenstück",
"Hölle", "Stein", "Stielweg" and "Reichestal".

All these vineyards are classified as suitable to produce
best Riesling with the designation "Erstes Gewächs" (First
Growth).
As result of scientific evaluation of micro-climate and soil composition by the State Research Institute at Geisenheim, 85 % of total the viticultural area from DOMDECHANT WERNER has been officially classified as particular suitable for the production of "Erstes Gewächs" ( "First Growth" or "Premier cru") compared with 33% average in the Rheingau region. This confirms the excellent "terroir" of the estate.

Directions to the estate:
From Wiesbaden about 10 kilometers via highway 671 or from
Mainz 7 km via highway 40. Approaching the village, as the
street curves left after 100m take first right, and after
another 100m take another right, go 100m further find the
entry to the vineyards (next to the obelisk). 50m down the
path, the entry to the winery is on the left.
The entry from the vineyards is much easier then the one-way
streets of the historic city.
